What is the meaning of life? It’s been asked so many times, by ancient philosophers and great minds of the past, to regular folk just making their way in the world. It’s a regular offering in modern day pop-culture. How many sci-if novels or popular films have asked that question in the last decade alone? Clearly, it is a topic of great interest to all; a vulnerable point for humanity as a whole. Where did we come from and why are we here?
Although often asked in a philosophical or scientific sphere, there is something childlike about the desire to know. For some, the belief that we may never find out and the fear of what the answer could be renders them uneasy. Others have no fear, as they find faith in the spiritual, whatever that may be for them personally. And others still ignore the question. They do not want to ponder it, so they focus on other things. Perhaps it doesn’t matter that much to them, or perhaps it’s too much to bear, but either way, it’s inevitable the question will arise.
What is our purpose? A question, I believe, to which there are infinite answers! No one thing could possibly be the answer for everyone. It’s up to each individual to discover their soul-purpose, and I’m here to help!
Why do I want to help you? ‘Cause that’s my purpose! My calling is to support people on their journey, guiding them towards the life they are meant to live. As an intuitive life coach, my goal is to help others reach their goals.
If you’re reading my blog, you probably already know a little about me, but just in case you missed it, here’s a quick bio! As I said, I’m an intuitive life coach, as well as clinical hypnotherapist, using a diverse set of skills and techniques to dive deep with my clients. Together, we uncover what they need to live an authentic life and work together to create a plan. While it is up to the individual to find their own path, it’s always nice to have someone guide the way now and then.
Building a fulfilling life for yourself isn’t something that happens overnight. It takes a lot of work, patience, and introspection. You have to be willing to look at all aspects of yourself and learn which parts serve you and which parts bring you down. I know this because I’ve taken this journey myself. I have gone from living a life I thought I was meant to live, to finding my true calling. I’ve done the work, and I’ll do more, as intentional living is an ongoing process.
One integral part of growing? Expanding your horizons! Eight years ago, I was a Court Appointed Child Advocate (CASA), working hard, but not really living. Since then, I’ve changed my career path to reflect my inner-self. Now I get to work with people, not just one-on-one, but in groups too, as my new path has allowed me wonderful speaking opportunities and the opportunity to run workshops, like the Ignite Your 2020 Vision Board Workshop. As you can plainly see (I mean you’re here!), I took the next step and launched a website so I can connect further with the community. So many exciting endeavours, but I’m ready for more!
That’s why I am absolutely elated for my next move, the launch of my first book, Making Waves: Musings, Reflections & Inspiration. Much like the ocean, we all have a deep inner-world. It’s full of dreams and desires, hopes and fears, all swirling around in the sea of our soul. But often, we get stuck and our lives become stagnant. We just go with the flow and do what is expected of us, by society, by our friends and family, and by ourselves. The key to progressing? Movement. You have to be willing to make changes, put the work in, set intentions, and strive for your goals.
Whether affected by internal movement, ie. the currents, or external factors like the wind and the tides, an ocean is bound to make waves. And that must be good, right? That’s the name of the book, so these forces moving us must be good! But what if they are not? What if they dictate our direction, instead of allowing us to explore? What if these waves are what’s holding us under and weighing us down?
Here is the thing: these are not your waves. They are the force of the outside world trying to mold you into something you’re not. They are the unseen riptides of your fears and self-doubt. When you aren’t living purposefully and authentically, you are not in control. The waves overtake you, sending boats off course, crashing heavy on the rocks. And there is little you can do to control these rough waters if you aren’t willing to take charge. If, however, you are ready to be the captain of your os. ship, the wind in your own sails, and the god of your own seven seas, is time to begin this voyage!
Can you imagine a sailor trying to navigate a tempestuous sea with no map? Making Waves is that map! It’s a guide, a plan, a handbook with the sole purpose to help you manifest and live an authentic life. Each wave will hit different, whether like drop in a pond or a tsunami, as you dive deep within yourself to uncover what helps you, what harms you, and what your soul is calling you to do.
Setting intentions is like setting a course for your ship. As we take this journey together, a mix of musings, advice, meditations, spiritual words, and exercises will help you build momentum, just like a wave, to reach your destination. Following the four waves, you will learn to free your mind, release your shadows, expand your heart, and embody your soul purpose!
Sometimes you’re the ocean, sometimes you’re the boat, and sometimes you are the helpless castaway, floating along, seemingly without a path or a prayer. There’s a case for mixed metaphors when the possibilities are endless. It is up to you to choose which path to take. You get to decide who you will be. I look forward to our journey together!
